Services

The Region 3 Prevention Resource Center (PRC) is a clearinghouse for printed material related to alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs (ATOD). Our information is provided at no cost. Requests for large quantities of information must be made in advance and are subject to availability. Orders of this type may require two or more weeks for delivery.

Here are a few of the other services offered by the Prevention Resource Center:

• Providing informational booths for local health fairs and other community events
• Working with other regional and state prevention providers to coordinate prevention activities of all types. We list all events on our website as well help to promote via local mass media.
• Providing education, training and presentations on alcohol, tobacco and other drug information.
• Utilizing our website to provide up-to-date information on ATOD issues, professional trainings, links to other useful prevention websites and other important information.
• Maintaining an extensive video library which is available for viewing and/or check-out. Our videos cover a wide variety of topics related to ATOD issues, parenting, communication skills, health issues, and many others.
• Conducting regional needs assessments.

Minors and Tobacco Strategy The Region 3 PRC works with tobacco retail outlets throughout North Texas as part of the Minors and Tobacco strategy. The primary goal of this strategy is to end the availability of tobacco products to minors. This involves two areas of activity: Conducting voluntary tobacco retailer visits to provide information related to the laws and state requirements on checking identification and placement of state approved signs Providing training and education presentations covering the dangers related to tobacco use and the state laws and regulations related to the sale of tobacco
